Intrusion Detection System (IDS)
About this solution
IDS (Intrusion Detection System) and IPS (Intrusion Prevention System) systems are used to detect and prevent intrusions into networks and IT systems. IDS analyzes network traffic or system activity and alerts administrators to suspicious activity. IPS additionally automatically blocks identified threats. Both solutions are based on signatures of known threats and anomaly detection techniques. IDS/IPS are often integrated with firewalls, SIEM, and NDR for better data correlation. These systems are particularly effective at detecting scans and exploits. In modern environments, they can be supported by AI and machine learning. Proper configuration and updating of detection rules is critical to the effectiveness of these systems. IDS/IPS is a classic but still indispensable component of security architecture.
